I recently took a trip to Bernheim Arboretum and Research. It was a little over an hour away and worth the drive. Bernheim Arboretum has 3 sculptures of giants. They were made by a Danish artist using recycled wood. They’re named: Mama Loumari, Little Nis, and Little Elina. There are also various other sculptures throughout the park.
When I went there was some construction going on so I wasn’t able to go on all the trails But I look forward to going back one day to discover anything I missed.
The giants were neat to look at and I see the appeal but if you go, one thing you should look for is the water. The ponds there are a source of underrated beauty. Maybe it was just the season when I went but these lakes were such a pretty shade of teal. It’s easy to just walk past the water and over the bridge but, if you look closely you’ll see turtles, frogs, and geese.
A few of these photos were taken by my friend Maureen.
